asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he intends to introduce legislation to give effect to paragraphs 23 and 24 of the White Paper on Immigration, Command Paper No. 2739, dealing with evasion of control; and whether such legislation will be introduced in advance of the report of a committee set up to examine the wider aspects of appeals by immigrants refused admission or required to leave.

It is the Government's intention to introduce legislation, but I would hope first to be able to consider the Committee's report before introducing such legislation.
