asked the Postmaster-General whether he will now make a statement on the scheme for the provision of telephones for elderly people at reduced charges.

We do not think concessionary telephone charges are the right answer, but as the House knows, my right hon. Friend is looking into other possibilities which may help those who have a need for emergency communication. He hopes to make an announcement later.
