asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what information he has concerning the whereabouts of Mr. Leo Baron since the declaration of independence in Rhodesia; and what contacts are available to him to ascertain the safety of detainees under the emergency regulations.

My latest information is that Mr. Leo Baron is in Que Que prison. We will naturally do what is possible to safeguard the rights of individuals and it is the objective of British Government policy to secure a full return to the rule of law which will ensure the safety of all those who live in Rhodesia.
