asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what arrangements are being made by the fire authorities to advise the boating public of safety recommendations contained in the fire prevention note numbered 11966 (England and Wales) and Note 2/1966 (Scotland) on fire precautions in pleasure craft; and whether he will consider commissioning a short film for use on television on fire prevention on pleasure craft.

Such arrangements are for individual fire authorities to determine in the light of local circumstances. The note has been sent to organisations representing boat-builders and boat-hirers, and my right hon. Friend is arranging for it to be placed on sale to the public through Her Majesty's Stationery Office. My right hon. Friend will certainly consider the suggestion about a film.
