asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many applications to hold gold coins under the Exchange Control (Gold Coins Exemption) Order 1966 have been received so far by the Bank of England; how many of these applications have been granted; and how many refused.

Up to 12th June, 1,230, 934 and 265 respectively; the remainder have not yet been examined.
