asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will state the average time taken for the construction of houses for owner-occupation in 1965.

Mr. Mellish

At the end of 1965 the average construction time for private houses and flats in England and Wales was 11ยท5 months. Most of them will have been built for owner-occupation.Separate figures for houses only are not available but in the private sector flats constitute only a very small proportion of the total.
