asked the President of the Board of Trade what proposals he has to require aircraft crash recorders to be designed for higher standards of recoverability.

Consideration is being given to a requirement for flight data recorders fitted in future aircraft to have under-water separation, flotation and location devices. In addition, while the standard of protection of the recorded message is already of a high order, the Air Registration Board is reviewing with manufacturers the possibility of increasing this protection.
