asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps he intends to take, following the Report of the Computer Board for Universities and Research Councils, Command Paper No. 4488, to ensure that the future needs of British research can be met by the British computer firm International Computers Limited.

I.C.L. continues to receive Government support under the terms of the Merger Agreements made in 1968.The Government does not, however, intervene in the day-to-day management of I.C.L. and decisions as to their product policy are a matter for their commercial judgment.
