asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he proposes taking to enable China to be invited to join the United Nations Organisation.

For many years we have voted for the seating of the Chinese People's Republic and shall do so again this year. As my right hon. Friend said in his speech in the United Nations on 24th September, the absence of China from the United Nations makes the solution of many pressing world problems all the more difficult.
