Mr. Carter
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what acreage was set aside for recreational purposes in the city of Birmingham in 1965; and what is the total now.
Mr. Graham Page
This information is not available in my Department but the hon. Member can no doubt obtain it direct from the Birmingham City Council.
Mr. Carter
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will refuse applications to change the land usage of recreational areas in the city of Birmingham.
Mr. Graham Page
Such applications are primarily the concern of the local planning authority. Any which come before my right hon. Friend will, as in the past, be dealt with on their merits.
