asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give the number of Government training establishments in the Yorkshire and Humberside Region, and the number of persons receiving training during each of the past four years; and if he will make a statement on his plans for building new training centres.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what unfilled places there are at Government training centres in the Yorkshire and Humberside Region; and what steps he is taking to fill them.
There were 209 unfilled places on 2nd November, including a substantial number in construction trade courses for which recruitment is at present restricted because of the level of unemployment in that industry. For the rest, our officers are encouraging all potentially suitable candidates to apply for retraining, drawing the attention of employers to the facilities for sponsored employee training, and generally publicising the types of training available at Government training centres.
