asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether the new body that he is setting up to consider the salaries of the higher paid civil servants and similar classes of employees will include the salaries of Members of Parliament; and whether he will refer to this body the question of Members of Parliament's and Ministerial salaries.

The Government have no plans at the present time for referring the remuneration of Ministers and Members of Parliament to the review body which the Prime Minister is setting up. The machinery of reviewing the salaries of Members and Ministers will be considered when it is decided that a review should be made.
