asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what consultations have taken place in the last 12 months between the European Economic Community and the European Free Trade Association on science and technology.

There have been no formal contacts between these organisations as such in these fields. Member countries of each organisation participate however in a number of organisations and in the talks now taking place in Brussels, sometimes known as the Aigrain talks or COST talks, concerning various aspects of science and technology.
