asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what he now estimates will be the effect on food prices following from the conversion to decimal currency.

If all concerned use the official conversion table, decimalisation should lead to no overall increase in food price levels.

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what evidence he has received from food manufacturers relating to expected prices in the months preceding the conversion to decimal currency.

In accordance with the arrangements envisaged in the statement by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment on 23rd July, manufacturers of the more important foods are giving my Department advance notice of prospective price changes.—[Vol. 804, c. 768.]
