Mr. Small
asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many prosecutions have been instituted in the last six months for short weight sales of packets of crisps; and if he will list the names of the firms, and the number of offences, and the total of fines imposed, in respect of each firm.
Sir J. Eden
Returns from 237 of the 287 local weights and measures authorities show that during 1969–70 there were prosecutions leading to convictions on 14 different occasions and that fines totalling £535 were imposed. I have no information about the names of the companies involved.
