asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will seek powers to ensure that all central heating firms installing systems for domestic heating comply with standards of salesmanship, installation and after-sales servicing which give adequate safeguards for the customer.

Safeguards for the consumer already exist in the central heating installation industry.
