asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many applications for political asylum were received from nationals of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Rumania, Bulgaria, Albania and Communist China, respectively, in each of the years 1967, 1968 and 1969; and how many such applications were granted.

No separate record is kept of those applications to remain in the United Kingdom in which political considerations are among the relevant factors.
