asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many people were employed in the woollen textile industries in the West Riding of Yorkshire in each year from 1960 to the latest available date.

Following are estimates for the Yorkshire and Humberside region, and for the corresponding regions in existence at the dates specified, of the numbers of employees in employment in Woollen and Worsted (minimum list heading 414 of the Standard Industrial Classification). As almost all of the employees in this industry included in these estimates were employed within the West Riding of Yorkshire, the regional figures provide reliable estimates for the West Riding.
