asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps he will now take to stimulate the motorcar industry.

As my right hon. Friend, the Chief Secretary, told my hon. Friend the Member for Worcestershire, South (Sir G. Nabarro) on 3rd November, home registrations have shown significant improvement over last year and the Government's measures announced on 27th October should help to restore confidence throughout industry. The Government have no wish to keep restrictions on the motor industry for a moment longer than is necessary.
