asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will take steps to protect pensioners, the sick, the unemployed and others on low or limited incomes from the impact of increased fuel charges.

The prices charged by the nationalised fuel industries must reflect their costs. If the income of a pensioner or a sick or unemployed person is insufficient for his needs, help may be available through the social services.
