asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware of recent lengthy delays being experienced by Members in receiving formal acknowledgements and substantive replies to their correspondence from nearly all of the Ministerial Departments; what is the reason for this; and whether he will restore the position to that in operation prior to 17th June, 1970.

Ministers in charge of Departments are fully aware of their responsibility for ensuring that there is the least possible delay in sending replies to Members of Parliament.
