asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether the level of local authority rents is generally lower in areas of high unemployment; and whether below-average rents prevail where unemployment is of the order of 8 per cent. and above.

This information is not available because unemployment rates are calculated by groups of employment exchange areas and these do not generally coincide with local authority areas.
