asked the Minister of of State for Defence what the rôle of Royal Air Force, Church Fenton, will be for the future; and whether this is operationally compatible with the utilisation of the airfield on a joint-user basis for scheduled civil air transport services.

The rôle of Royal Air Force, Church Fenton is to give basic flying training. This is a long-term task and is not compatible with its use by any scheduled civil air service. The airfield is, however, available during working hours, and with prior permission of the Commanding Officer, for use by civil aircraft on inland flights.
