Mr. Kelley
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why action was not taken against Prisoner 654761, held at Armley Gaol, Leeds, arising out of allegations the prisoner made about the conduct of prison officers, which were later found by his Department to be unfounded.
Mr. Carlisle
I have sent the hon. Member a full account of the events in this case. The inquiry into the prisoner's allegations did not show a clear case for charging him with making false and malicious allegations against an officer.
