asked the Prime Minister what plans he has for rationalising the functions of government as they relate to the management of the United Kingdom sector of the marine environment and its resources.

I have been asked to reply.As announced in Cmnd. 4506 each Department is carrying out a review of its functions. As to the distribution of responsibilities between Departments my right hon. Friend has no plans for further major changes and he is satisfied with the existing comprehensive arrangements for co-ordination between the Departments concerned with the different aspects of the marine environment.
