asked the Minister of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the results of the trials of the £100 million North Atlantic Treaty Organisation air defence ground environment network; and if it will be operational by 1972.

I understand that the system, which is expected to be in operation in 1972, will be the subject of trials next year.
