asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimate he has made of the impact of noise on the lives of those living within a radius of 12 miles of London Airport, Heathrow; and if he will make a statement.

I have been asked to reply.The Wilson Committee on Noise (Cmnd. 2056) examined the effect on people of noise of all sorts and carried out a social survey of public feeling on aircraft noise around Heathrow. More recent data substantially confirms the main findings of the Wilson Committee.
