asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will issue a general direction to the Air Registration Board to prevent cannibalisation of damaged aircraft.

No. I am satisfied that the existing regulations relating to the use of parts, components, etc., including those from damaged aircraft together with the detailed information set out in British Civil Airworthiness Requirements and the relevant Air Registration Board Notices adequately control safety in these matters.
