asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what consultations he is having with professional engineering bodies about those European Economic Community regulations and directives which directly affect the engineering profession.

The European Economic Community have agreed on arrangements for consulting us, before our full membership, about Community policies.We expect to receive draft subordinate legislation which will concern the engineering profession in the near future, and, when we do, we shall consult the professional engineering bodies concerned.
