Mr. Mulley
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he can now say when the traffic restrictions on Tinsley Bridge, Sheffield, will be lifted; and if he will make a statement on his findings after the inspection of the structure.
Mr. Graham Page
Proposals for the strengthening of Tinsley Viaduct should be available by the end of April, 1972. Until the full extent of these proposals is known I cannot estimate how long it will take to put them into effect on this large and complex structure. The physical inspection of the viaduct carried out by the maintaining authority shortly after the application of lane restrictions in June, 1971, revealed no signs of distress.
