asked the Lord President of the Council whether he is aware that committees of the European Parliament meet on an average of 230 days a year and that the Parliament itself meets during 10 or 11 months of each year; and how he proposes to enable a British Member of Parliament to reconcile his membership of a delegation to the European Parliament with his duties to his constituency in this country.

From the discussions I have had, I do not think the problem of reconciling these responsibilities will prove as formidable as the hon. Member implies. The detailed arrangements are, however, a matter for decision nearer the date of accession.
