asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he expects any reduction in the work force of the Gwynedd County Council during the next three months; what steps he is taking to avoid any such redundancies in a special development area; and if he will make a statement.

It is the local authority's responsibility to determine its own manpower requirements. I am sure that it will give careful consideration to all the relevant factors before coming to a final decision on any changes in complement.
