Dr. Hampson
asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many school building programmes have had to be deferred as a result of the erosion of block allocations by rising costs.
Mr. Armstrong
None. Although Circular 8/74 stated that the lump sum authorisations to local education authorities for 1974–75 may be adjusted subsequently in the light of building prices and the national economic situation, to date no adjustment has been found necessary.
