asked the Minister for Overseas Development what proportion of the EEC food aid programme for 1974 was borne by the United Kingdom.

In 1974, in accordance with the transitional arrangements, Britain paid contributions equal to 11ยท04 per cent. of food aid disbursements made from the EEC budget. In addition Britain met the whole cost of her own national actions in cereals, which are, in terms of tonnage, about 17 per cent. of the national actions of all member States within the total obligation of the EEC under the Food Aid Convention 1971.
