asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will consider the provision of new industries for St. Helens.

We are doing all we can to attract new industry. In August the regional employment premium was doubled and Merseyside was granted special development area status. When the National Enterprise Board and the planning agreement system are in operation, we shall be able to do still more for areas like St. Helens.
