asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the number of claimants drawing restricted rate rebates because of the limit on the size of rebate allowed; and if he will make a statement on when he intends to raise the maximum limit for rebate.

I regret that the information requested is not available, but I understand that it is only a small proportion of total claimants. I propose to lay before Parliament shortly regulations increasing the maximum weekly rebate from £2·65 to £3 in London and from £2·15 to £2·50 elsewhere, to take effect from 1st April 1975.
