asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is Her Majesty's Government's policy towards the military alliance of CENTO, SEATO and the Warsaw Pact.

Her Majesty's Government attach great importance to the preservation of the independence and territorial integrity of the member States of CENTO and SEATO and regard the organisations as making significant contributions to the stability, security and economic development of their respective areas. As to the Warsaw Pact, it is not for Her Majesty's Government to comment on groupings of which Britain is not a member.
