asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what action she is proposing to take on the report of the Consumer Advisory Committee on proposals by the Director-General of Fair Trading for statutory controls on the taking of payments by mail order firms; and whether she will make a statement.

I shall be presenting the committee's report to Parliament as soon as possible, together with a statement on the action that I intend to take.
