asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many civil servants regularly commute between London and Scotland; and what is the estimated annual cost of (a) transport and (b) subsistence.

Ten Scottish Office civil servants who are based in Edinburgh spend most of their working week in London during parliamentary Sessions. The estimated annual cost is £11,500 for transport and £11,000 for subsistence allowances.
