asked the Secretary of State for Industry (1) whether the members of the Kirkby and Meriden Co-operatives are partners in their firms;(2) whether the members of the Kirkby and Meriden Co-operatives are self-employed for national insurance purposes.

Mr. Meacher

No. The work force at Kirkby are employees of Kirkby Manufacturing Limited. It is expected that similar arrangements will apply in the case of the Meriden Co-operative.
