asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many people are covered by the key workers transfer scheme; and what was the nature and amount of grant from the European Economic Community in the third and fourth allocation from the 1974 Social Fund Budget.

The key workers scheme applies to certain employed workers who are transferred beyond daily travelling distance of their homes to key posts in establishments which their employers are setting up or extending in the assisted areas. Some 700 workers were granted assistance under the scheme in 1974. There was no allocation of grant in respect of this scheme from the 1974 Social Fund Budget.
