asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) what approaches have been made to him by individuals or public authorities to purchase Newtownhamilton Courthouse;(2) what future plans he has for Newtownhamilton Courthouse; and whether he intends to dispose of it by public auction.

In January last the Newry and Mourne District Council expressed an interest in acquiring the Newtownhamilton Courthouse for conversion to a community centre. The Government have no plans to dispose of it and are considering its future use in the light of the recommendations of the Committee on County Courts and Magistrates' Courts in Northern Ireland (Cmnd. 5824) published in December 1974.

Newtownhamilton Courthouse has suffered bomb damage on three occasions; £353 has been spent on repairs.
