asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will initiate a study into the therapeutic value of riding for severely subnormal children.

No. The therapeutic value of riding for some severely mentally handicapped children is, however, recognised and some mental handicap hospitals and local authorities already make use of riding for this purpose. Voluntary organisations also play a valuable part in providing this kind of activity.
