asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she will institute discussions with manufacturers and distributors of matches with a view to securing that all boxes carry a warning that matches should be kept out of reach of children.

The Government are currently running a publicity campaign about the dangers of children playing with matches. But we are prepared to consider further measures to reduce the risks arising from this source and will be glad to bear the hon. Member's suggestion in mind.
