asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will publish a table in tile Official Report showing total industrial investment in the United Kingdom as a proportion of gross national product for 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972 and the latest available year; and if he will publish corresponding figures for West Germany, Japan, France, Italy, Norway, Denmark and Ireland for the same years.

Figures relating to gross national product are not readily available for many of the countries. The table gives the proportion of gross domestic product represented by investment for as many of the years as available for the countries requested.

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what estimate he has made of the investment in manufacturing industry in the United Kingdom, over each of the past 10years, from companies the control of which lies outside the United Kingdom; and what is the corresponding estimate for the same period of investment in manufacturing industry outside the United Kingdom by companies controlled within the United Kingdom.
