asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what effect the public expenditure cuts announced in the Budget will have on her Department's services in the Woking area.

As my right hon. Friend announced in her reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Preston, North (Mr. Atkins) on 15th April—[Vol. 890, c. Member, and the table below therefore gives the position as at 30th September 1973. The regions are those of the Social Work Service of my Department. The figures relate to field social workers only, and exclude details of social work assistants and trainees.

85–88.]—major starts this year are to include a new psychiatric unit at St. Peter's Hospital, Chertsey. Individual authorities will shortly be notified of the planning assumptions they should adopt for the years 1976–79.
