asked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will publish in the Official Report the names of the members of the Independent Advisory Committee on Government Advertising and the dates of the appointment of each member; what are the duties of the committee; where, and on what dates, it has held its meetings; and what was the attendance in each case.

The terms of reference of the Advisory Committee on the Appointment of Advertising Agents are to recommend advertising agents to the Government through the Central Office of Information for the handling of specific Government advertising campaigns and any associated publicity material; to nominate for the task of negotiating the best buying terms from the media; to request the Central Office of Information to report on the suitability of agencies which have applied for Government business and which have a prima facie case for consideration.Meetings of the committee are normally held annually in the autumn at the Central Office of Information. The commitee has been in existence for 32 years and therefore information on attenadnce at each meeting is not readily available and could only be obtained at disproportionate cost. However, dates for meetings are arranged to try to ensure a full attendance.
