asked the Secretary of State for Energy if, when his statistical survey on existing combined heat and power schemes in private industry is completed, he will announce his proposals for en- couraging an accelerated programme of modern installations, in the interest of energy conservation.

The determination of the economic potential for combined heat and power schemes in private industry requires detailed evaluation of complex issues which are being studied by my Department and by industry itself. New statistical information will provide background material for these deliberations, but I cannot give a firm date for a statement.
