asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he is able to give an estimate of the impact of the defence review and the latest defence cuts on the guided missile destroyer programme in the Swan Hunter Tyneside shipyards.

The Type 42 guided missile destroyers now being built by Swan Hunter Shipbuilders Ltd. are not affected by the defence review or by the cut of £110 million in the defence budget for 1976–77 announced by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 15th April 1975.
