asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement concerning implementation of the proposals contained in the Brodrick Report.

Consideration of the report is well advanced but, I regret that it is not yet possible to make a statement.

Although I realise that this is an esoteric subject, may I ask the hon. Lady to examine cremation forms B and C concerning doctors' fees? Does she accept the view which has been expressed by some undertakers that the forms are unnecessary and that a fee of £8·90 presents difficulties to a great many people, especially old-age pensioners? Will she investigate the situation?

This is an aspect of the report which is being given careful consideration and which involves consultations with the British Medical Association and with the Department of Health and Social Security.
